Teenager Struck and Killed on Interstate 55

Investigators say a 14- year old male was struck and killed on I-55 in South St. Louis. The accident happened around 2:00 p.m. Saturday. Police say the teen and two friends were trying to cross the Interstate near Virgina when he was struck. The teen was transported to an area hospital where he later died. No one else was injured. Kirkwood Apartment Residents Scramble For Housing After Fire

The American Red Cross is now providing shelter for 22 residents following a fire at the Kirkwood Bluff Apartments . The fire broke out around 10:00 p.m. Friday night at the complex in the 2200 block of Timberview Road. The fire was contained to one unit however, multiple apartments sustained significant smoke damage. An elderly man was rescued from the burning building and suffered from smoke inhalation. The male victim is expected to survive. One firefighter also sustained injuries and he continues to recover. Fire Investigators say the fire started in the kitchen . The St. Louis Hills leg of the Gateway Cup Bike Race took place Saturday Morning. If you will not get to the Tour De France, this is was your chance to find out what all the excitement is about. Three organizations teamed up to host a new event to raise funds and awareness of cycling for children with disabilities. Aside from the usual lineup of kids, ammeter and professional races, The Francis Park Criterium included a "Tandemonium" featuring The Delta Gamma Tour De Unite ride to support children with impaired vision.
